Frequently asked questions
Questions Before
We Get Started?
Straightforward answers to some of the questions we hear most.
How much does spray foam insulation cost?
Every project is different. Pricing depends on square footage, foam type, thickness, accessibility, preparation, and location. Use our Project Planner to get a quick planning estimate, then send us your project details for an exact quote.
Get My Free EstimateWhat’s the difference between open-cell and closed-cell spray foam?
Open-cell foam is lighter and is commonly used in applications such as residential rooflines and walls. Closed-cell foam is denser, provides a higher R-value per inch, adds rigidity, and is commonly used for metal buildings and other applications where its properties are beneficial. Castle Foam can help determine which product makes sense for the project.
How thick should my spray foam be?
The appropriate thickness depends on the foam being used, where it is installed, the building assembly, project goals, and applicable requirements. Castle Foam recommends the appropriate product and application for each project rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.
How clean and accessible should my space be before Castle Foam arrives?
The work area should be cleared and ready for our crew before we arrive. Please remove stored items, tools, construction debris, vehicles, and other belongings that could obstruct the areas being insulated.
We need clear access to walls, rooflines, and other spray areas so our crew can properly protect the space and work safely and efficiently.
If significant cleanup, moving of belongings, or additional preparation is required when we arrive, additional prep charges may apply and the project schedule may be affected.
If you’re unsure whether the space is ready, send Castle Foam a few photos beforehand.
Can you spray foam an existing home?
Yes. Many existing homes can be upgraded with spray foam, although accessibility and existing insulation can affect the process. Castle Foam will evaluate the space and explain whether removal or additional preparation is necessary.
Does my existing insulation need to be removed?
Not always. It depends on the project, the condition and location of the existing insulation, and what the project is trying to accomplish. Castle Foam will evaluate the existing insulation and explain what needs to stay, move, or be removed.
Do you spray foam metal buildings and barndominiums?
Yes. Castle Foam installs spray foam in metal buildings, shops, agricultural buildings, barndominiums, and other structures. Open-cell or closed-cell foam may be recommended depending on the building and project goals.
How long does spray foam installation take?
Installation time depends on the size, complexity, accessibility, and preparation requirements of the project. Many residential and smaller building projects can be completed quickly once the space is properly prepared. Castle Foam will provide a realistic project schedule with the quote.
What areas does Castle Foam serve?
Castle Foam is based in Prattville, Alabama and serves Montgomery, the River Region, and surrounding Alabama communities. Castle Foam also travels for projects outside the immediate service area. Enter your location in the Project Planner or contact Castle Foam about your project.
What should I do before installation day?
Castle Foam will explain project-specific requirements before installation.
In general, customers should make sure the work area is accessible, remove belongings and construction debris from spray areas, and complete any agreed-upon preparation before the crew arrives.
Proper preparation helps Castle Foam stay on schedule and deliver a clean, professional installation.
